May 2013 Skillbuilder BOM

These are the Skillbuilder BOM ‘s from March.  These first two are Alyssa’s blocks–in addition to being a board member for PHXMQG she is the force behind all these blocks and tutorials!  She has tutorials on her blog and free patterns too so even beginners can make these blocks, in some cases she has videos to really demonstrate what she is doing.

These first two blocks are Alyssa’s (and the pictures too).  Above is the Woven Star and belew the Woven Chevron.  Check out that amazing quilting..can’t believe she hasn’t been quilting for twenty years!

Several of us in the PHXMQG are making these and quilting them as we go and several of us are making them and turning them into pillows or just leaving them as blocks for now.  It is so much fun to see how these blocks look in different fabrics.

Here is some more eye candy for this past months Skillbuilder BOM blocks.  I believe Roxanne’s blocks are on the left (she won the prize this month) and Becca’s ar eon the right in both pictures.

Becca changed this block up a little and we really liked it!

These are Andee’s blocks.

Head on over to Flickr to see more blocks from all the folks who are participating!
Here are the next two blocks which require some hand piecing (though Alyssa has a method for machine piecing as well) go to Pile O’ Fabric to get the next lesson and if you are really with it, go to this link to work on these blocks!

Thanks to http://pileofabric.com/ for the photos and for the great tutorials for the Skillbuilder BOM!
If you haven’t joined in on this yet, jump in and make a pillow or tablerunner if you don’t have time to make them all!
