August 2015 Triangle Quiltcon Challenge!

It’s time to get busy with our final challenge of 2015!  This one is also a QuiltCon Challenge, so you get two in one!

For this challenge, the theme is triangles!   It’s pretty easy to master squares, strips, rectangles, and the like, but using triangles in your design motif can provide some very interesting and different geometric interest!

For our guild challenge, feel free to be as creative as you want – play with flying geese, isosceles triangles, funky shaped and improv pieced triangles – the sky’s the limit!  No limit, either, on the size or shape of the project – so feel free to do anything from a mugrug to a full sized quilt.

If you’d like for this to double as an entry for the QuiltCon challenge, the rules are only a bit more restrictive.  Full details are here:  http://quiltconwest.com/quilt-show/ez-quilting-challenge/  but a quick rundown of the rules are:

  • Participants should use the Mini 60ª or 45º Simplicity Ruler in some part of their quilt.
  • Additional shapes can be used in the quilt
  • Quilts can be of any size
  • Deadline to enter for QuiltCon consideration (officially via MQG) is November 30th.

Bring your challenge quilt to our November meeting on November 21st, so that we can show them off before the QuiltCon registration deadline.  Prizes will be awarded as well, so get your triangles on, folks!
